Miami Florida Tourist Information and Travel Guide
MacArthur Causeway is the six-lane causeway that connects downtown Miami to Miami Beach and South Beach.
The road also connects the Biscayne Bay islands of Palm Island, Hibiscus Island and Star Island to the mainland.
The MacArthur Causeway was completed in 1920 but has been expanded over the years. It was renamed in 1942 to honor World War II General, Douglas MacArthur.
Visitors to Miami can catch a city bus to travel across the causeway from downtown Miami to Miami Beach. The city tour buses also cross the causeway.
